The King of Cornhole: Matt Guy?

I didn’t know it got this serious.  Apparently, there are two warring governing bodies for the sport of Cornhole: The American Cornhole Association and The American Cornhole Organization.  Well, despite all that, they both get hundreds of people to show up to their countrywide sanctioned tournaments, so you go Glen Coco!  With all that being said, there is one man who gets recognition across each group: Matt Guy.  This dude is allegedly one fantastic cornhole player, and by looking at his YouTube best of clips, he does seem quite good.  Of course, anyone can look good on YouTube when all people upload is their successes, but there is some serious heat on this Guy fellow.

I did some investigating and discovered that he’s the 2007 King of Cornhole (try not to make a joke, Mike, try not to make a joke…I hear he was the 2008 King of Cornhole in San Quentin.  Sigh.) and winner of the 2008 Cornhole World Championship.  That’s an excellent resume for someone who just plays a tailgate game, but take a look at some of the comments on his YouTube clips.  Matt Guy is not generally liked by a whole lot of people.  His personality takes a beating, as well as his cornhole ability.  Are these jilted former partners?  Are these teams he absolutely manhandled?  I’m sure that there is a little bit of this and a little bit of that, but I have a challenge for Matt Guy: I want to see you in action, sir.  I want you to come up to the ACO-sanctioned Brew City Bags Bash on April 18, 2010 at the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  If you are as good as you say you are, there should be no troubles in taking care of a bunch of Wisconsinites.  Come on, King of Cornhole, show Obscure Sports Magazine and all the haters on the ‘Net that you are the true ruler of all things baggo.
